The Raccoon Lodge was founded by Toots Mondello and Herman Hildebrand in 1907.
Their national leader is Morris Fink, the Grand High Exalted Mystic Ruler. The
300 dues paying members of the Bensonhurst Chapter included bus driver Ralph
Kramden, and sewer worker Ed Norton. Each member wears double-breasted military
jackets with oversized epaulets on each shoulder, white shirts, dark ties and
hats with a raccoon tail dangling from the back. Members had to be a US citizen
for the last six months; have a public school diploma; and pay a $1.50
initiation fee. The lodge's monthly dues are $2.00. The Raccoon Lodge bowling
team is called the "Hurricanes." The Raccoons are also referred to as "The
International Order of Friendly Sons of the Raccoons"; "The International Order
of Loyal Raccoons", or at times, "The Royal Order of Raccoons." The Raccoon's
slogan is "E Pluribus Raccoon." Their national conventions are held in Chicago
and in Minneapolis. Their drinking toast is "Fingers to fingers, thumbs to
thumbs, watch out below, here she comes."

Josh once said of his gun "It's kinda like a hog's leg but not quite as mean, If
I have to use it, I want to get the message across." Randall later acquired a
sidekick named Jason Nichols.

The Rat Patrol is a military division of the Allied Forces based in North
African Desert during WWII. Outfitted with two machine gun mounted jeeps, their
mission was to terrorize and destroy the Nazi desert forces (Afrika Korps) led
by German Field Marshal Erwin Rommel [a.k.a. "The Desert Rat"]. US Army Sergeant
Sam Troy commanded this elite group of Americans [Pvt. Mark "Hitch" Hitchcock
a.k.a. "The Kid" and Pvt. Tully Pettigrew, a quiet guy with a Southern accent]
and one Englishman [Sgt. Jack Moffitt, a Ph.D, archeologist and demolition
expert] to harass German armored units commanded by Captain Hauptman Hans
Dietrich. Note: The Rat Patrol was based on the real-life exploits of the WWII
British armored car outfit called "The Long Range Desert Group." The series was
filmed on the deserts of Spain.
