The Bundy family credos are:

  • "When one Bundy is embarrassed, the rest of us feel good about ourselves";

  • "Hooters, hooters Yum yum yum Hooters, hooters on a blonde that's dumb";

  • "When you’re gonna loose, loose big";

  • "A Bundy never wins, but a Bundy never quits.";

  • "Lie when your wife is waking. Lie when your belly's aching. Lie when you know she's faking. Lie, sell shoes, and lie"

  • (The Bundy cheer is "Whooooa Bundy!")

Some Bundy-isms

Kelly Bundy:  It's better to have loved and lost than never to  have seen  'Lost in Space' at all.

Peggy:  What if he is cheating on me?

Marcy:  Stand by your man - in court! Take him for everything and get yourself another man. A real man.

Peggy:  I don't want a real man. I want Al!

Marcy:  Why?

Peggy:  Oh I don't know . Have you ever had a pair of old shoes? They're boring and ugly and stink to high heaven. But they're yours, you know? They're worn down and broken in and... and when you put 'em on it feels like there's nothing there, ha ha ha. That's my Al.

Al to Mrs. De Groot: "So you think I'm a loser? Just because I have a stinking job that I hate, a family that doesn't respect me, a whole city that curses the day I was born? Well, that may mean loser to you, but let me tell you something. Every morning when I wake up, I know it's not going to get any better until I go back to sleep again. So I get up, have my watered down Tang and still-frozen Pop Tart, get in my car with no upholstery, no gas and six more payments to fight traffic just for the privilege of putting cheap shoes on the cloven hooves of people like you. I'll never play football like I thought I would, I'll never know the touch of a beautiful woman, and I'll never again know the joy of driving without a bag on my head. But I'm not a loser. 'Cause despite it all, me and every other guy who'll never be what he wanted to be, are still out there, being what we don't wanna be, forty hours a week, for life. And the fact that I haven't put a gun to my mouth, you pudding of a woman, makes me a winner!"

Peg:    What did he make you for dinner?
Bud:    Marshmallows.
Peg:    Where's the dog?
Bud:    He's out barfing marshmallows. It
           looks like a winter out there.

   Al:  Did I tell you kids I love you today?
Bud:  No, dad.
   Al:  Think about that on the way upstairs.

Bud (to Kelly): When's mom and dad gonna
realize you're stupid and leave you alone.

Kelly:  Mom, when I grow up I want to be just like you. I want to do nothing, I want to be nothing.

Al:  Sorry, Peg, I didn't hear you. I was thinking
of killing myself.

Al: What a life. Can't eat, can't sleep, can't bury
 the wife in the back yard!

I love your hooters,
I love your ass,
Let's say we meet after class

The Bundy House - Click to Enlarge

TRIVIA NOTE: The house seen as the Bundy residence is reportedly located on Castlewood Lane, south of Deerfield Road in the real suburb of Deerfield, Illinois. During the 1988-89 season a letter writing campaign, led by a housewife named Terry Rakolta from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, encouraged viewers and advertisers to boycott the show. Ms. Rakolta was offended over the January 15, 1989 episode No. 306 "Her Cup Runneth Over" in which Peg Bundy searched for a new bra at "Francine's of Hollywood" (whose motto is "If you've got the boulders, we've got the holders"). The whole brouhaha only made the program more popular by drawing more viewers to check out the zany sitcom that featured chauvinism, semi-delinquent children, (including a promiscuous blond bimbo daughter), frustrated husbands, horny wives and libidinous neighbors.
