Honey West ID Card

TRIVIA NOTE: The Honey West series was based on the Honey West novels by G.G. Fickling, (pseudonym of Gloria and Forest E. Skip Fickling).

According to the book's co-creator Gloria Fickling, Honey West was described as a "beautiful, brainy and very much determined, sensual female." Partnered with a sidekick/boyfriend named Johnny Doom, Honey appeared in a number of novels from the late 1950s into the 1970s. The titles included:

'Honey West' Paperback Novels

The Honey West character debuted on TV on the BURKE'S LAW episode, "Who Killed the Jackpot?" (04/21/1965). Honey West was the first woman detective to appear as the central character on an American network television series. Her character soon inspired other female detective/spy programs such as THE GIRL FROM U.N.C.L.E. (1966-67), GET CHRISTIE LOVE (1974-75) and POLICE WOMAN (1974-78)

Anne Lloyd Francis, who played the role of the sexy private eye Honey West was born September 16, 1930 in Ossining, New York. She began her career at the age of five as a model and later got her first film role in the 1948 movie Summer Holiday.

Her film credits included Forbidden Planet, Bad Day at Black Rock, and Black Board Jungle. Her most memorable TV credits included the role of a mannequin in a classic TWILIGHT ZONE episode "The After Hours" and, of course, as her role as female private eye Honey West.

During the late 1940's Ms. Francis appeared as a Bonny Maid, one of the hosts of the children's variety program THE VERSATILE VARIETY SHOW/NBC/CBS/ABC/1949-51.

Anne's personal and spiritual trip through life is chronicled in her biography "Voices from Home: An Inner Journey." Autographed copies are available through her website.
