Happy the Clown - Popular children's show host who
appeared in the Philadelphia area from 1956-1968 on WFIL-TV Channel
6.

One of the program highlights was the "Marching
Sticks" segment when all the kids were given a set of wooden sticks.
As the music played, they proceeded to march around the studio
banging the sticks together to the beat of the music.
At the end of
the march they climbed up a ladder and slid down a sliding board.
Occasionally, Happy gave special kids rides on Chippy the Chipmunk.
Howard Jones died from cancer in July
of 1993. He was 84. Jones had become a realtor after leaving his
television show.
When Happy the Clown (Howard Jones) was not available for the
show, a character named Sawdust Sam (a.k.a. Howard Ennis)
substituted. He wore a plaid Gay Nineties-style suit, parted his
hair in the middle, sported a cardboard mustache and made a
wide-eyed expressions as Porky Pig's catchphrase "Th-th-th-that's
all, folks!" played in the background.
