Little Ricky - Baby doll created to
commemorate the birth of the real Desiderio
Alberto Arnaz IV, (1/19/53) the second child of
Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball, who played the
Ricardo's on the sitcom I LOVE LUCY/CBS/1951.
The doll (with the words "Little Ricky,
Jr." embroidered on the blouse) was the
brainchild of A.E. (Ed) Hamilton, Desilu
vice-president. Marketing experts referred to
the new Arnaz offspring as "Lucy's $50 million
Baby" because of projected earnings anticipated
from certain tie-in commitments.
