*(James Earl Jones) Neb Langston, a black widower who shared his Seattle home with a few generations of his family. Cast included Monique Ridge as Ayesha, Neb's grown daughter; Joe Morton as Ron Langston, Neb's son; Vanessa Bell Calloway as Ron's wife, Maggie; Essence Atkins as Charlie, their 15-year-old daughter; Ronald Joshua Scott as Derrick, their ten-year-old diabetic son; Merlin Santana as Marcus, Neb's foster son; and Terence Knox as Siggy Sigelos, Ron's partner at his hardware store.

**(Michael Beach) Desmond Beck, a black police detective working homicide on the streets of Portland, Oregon.

**(Kasi Lemmons) Alex Robbins, a black female espionage trainee working for United States National Intelligence Agency.

*(Jeffrey Anderson-Gunter/costar) Vince, a black restaurateur with a Jamaican accent who runs a downtown Manhattan diner called Union Square.

*(Yule Caise) Marcus Wilson, a black youngster who adjusted to living in an integrated area of San Francisco with his family members who included Cindy Herron as his sister, Valerie; L. Wolfe Perry, Jr. as his brother, Kevin; Robert DoQui as their father, Frank; and Gamy L. Taylor as their mother, Joyce.

*(Willie Bryant) Willie Bryant, host of this short-lived all black variety program later called SUGAR HILL TIME. Regulars included Harry Belafonte, Timmie Rogers and The Jubileers.

*(Meshach Taylor) Meshach Taylor, black host of the gardening show that highlights viewers how to grow flowers and vegetables on small spaces even in the confines of city living
