Borax - Mineral mined in the
Death Valley Region located along a 140 mile stretch of land running
through southeastern California and Nevada.

The western anthology
series DEATH VALLEY DAYS/SYN/1952-75 was sponsored by the 20-Mule
Team Borax, a product of the US Borax company whose commercial logo
featured a team of twenty mules pulling mine wagons filled with
borax across the hot desert sand of Death Valley.
Borax is derived
from boron ore that is extracted from open mine pits (by blasting)
and later dissolved, crystallized, separated and dried so that the
final borate product can be used for manufacturing ceramics,
glassware and detergents (Boraxo).
