Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
All work and no play make Jack a dull boy, but the other way around will make him a loser in life. Nevertheless, people today, whether young or old, are forgetting about doing what they should do and are just spending too much of their time on personal enjoyment.
Students at school are much more focused on playing than learning. Those at my school are no exceptions. My teacher constantly struggle to get them to pay attention in classes. However, most students would rather chat with their friends, send text messages on their cell phones, or just scribble in their textbooks. They hardly ever pay attention to the lecture and take notes. Why they do not care about their schoolwork is just that it is not fun to them. In short, because they prefer doing things they like to do, they are neglecting their duties.
Adults too face so many distractions that they often do things they enjoy instead of things they should do. I read a recent survey that asked people how they spend their time. Work was the number one choice, but the number of hours people worked was down from the previous years. Following work were categories like watch TV, hang out with friends, and surf the Internet. All of them are related to personal enjoyment, and the number of hours people spend on these activities is said to be rising every year. This trend clearly shows that people nowadays are working less while engaging in fun activities more.
These days, people are definitely spending too much time on personal enjoyment. Students are ignoring their schoolwork while adults are forgetting about their jobs. Instead, everyone wants to pursue personal gratification. We are certainly living in an age of too many Jacks who try to have fun all the time.
